All fall, winter and spring, I’m wearing a cardi or a blazer, for added warmth and for the style of it. I love blazers especially, since they can be layered with just about anything, from skirts to leggings to skinny jeans. I’m always looking for a new one to add to my closet, and a quick peek at ModCloth (my fave online shop) has revealed some new ones I’m adding to my must-have list! Here are 8 gorgeous blazers.

1. Great Lunch Break Blazer

Price: $69.99 at modcloth.com
This blazer has the hallmarks of style — a fitted cut, rich detailing, and a neutral color. I love the lace frill around the bottom, and the cut of the bodice is so flattering! I’d wear this with twilly trousers and ankle booties, and with skinny jeans and a lacy scarf.

2. Afternoon Symphony Jacket

Price: $99.99 at modcloth.com
This looks like a perfect blend, half comfy sweater, half shapely blazer. The patch pockets are ideal for holding a lip gloss and small wallet, the neckline is supremely flattering (it’s begging for a knit scarf), and the buttons add the final finishing touch.

3. Lace the Morning Blazer

Price: $84.99 at modcloth.com
This lacy jacket is ideal for layering, not very warm, but it’s all lace, so what did you expect? It’s pale, creamy white lace over a tan cotton liner, perfect to wear over a thin sweater or sheer blouse, perhaps one with a floral pattern. Or pair with skinny jeans and a tank with a pretty necklace for a springy look.

4. Lenore Blazer

Price: $99.99 at modcloth.com
This slightly cropped, gorgeously fitted crushed velvet blazer is a stunning, delicious raspberry color, perfect to wear with jeans or a pretty floaty skirt. The sleeves are slightly puffed at the shoulder, the one-button closure cinches your waist, and the color makes even the palest emo winter complexion glow. What more could a girl ask for in a blazer?

5. Must Mean Business Jacket

Price: $94.99 at modcloth.com
You already have the patterned tights, pencil skirt, and kicky ankle boots… why not add this zipper-flaunting black blazer, too, for a little 1980’s punk-inspired sass? The neckline is draped, the cut slightly asymmetrical, the style all your own.

6. At Ease Jacket

Price: $69.99 at modcloth.com
We know the military look is still hot, for this cropped black blazer is a sure sign. Its twin rows of silver buttons, its single hook-and-eye clasp, its crisp lines… all of these details make it a must-have! Layer it over a flirty girlie dress, or with white skinny jeans and tall lace-up boots. I love it!

7. Continental Cool Blazer

Price: $89.99 at modcloth.com
What’s not to love about this lush velveteen blazer? The cut is flattering, skimming your waist. The color is s sumptuous inky black. The details are all shiny satin, and it’s perfect for wearing with your favorite maxi dress, your best skinny jeans, or your classic pin-stripe pencil skirt.

Those are a few of the gorgeous blazers on ModCloth right now, and they’re all so reasonably priced, however will you choose just one, or even two? They’re all so trendy and versatile, they’re all sure to make an impression in your wardrobe. Which of these pretty blazers do you like best, and what would you wear them with?

Since I’ve cut my hair from waist-length locks into a chic bob, I can’t seem to keep warm in the winter. My neck’s always cold, so I’ve collected quite an assortment of scarves. But my poor ears! I’ve gotten tired of wearing earmuffs, so now I need to find some new hats… and I’ve found so many adorable ones at ModCloth, one of my favorite online shops. Here are 7 adorable winter hats…

1. Trail Mix Hat

Price: $26.99 at modcloth.com
I love this hat! It’s so cute! I adore the big pom-pom on the top and the extra-cozy ear flaps. And the slub yarn is multi-colored so I can wear this hat with just about anything and I’ll still look stylish. I’d wear this with my big fuzzy boots and a puffy vest.

2. Amber Aura Hat

Price: $27.99 at modcloth.com
If you’re a fan of anything lemony yellow, then this is the hat for you, whether you need one or not! It’s cheery enough to add your own spot of sunshine to even the greyest winter day, and warm enough to make-believe spring is on the way.

3. Warm Thoughts Headscarf

Price: $19.99 at modcloth.com
Sometimes my hair gets so dry and fly-away, I can’t imagine wearing a hat… I could probably power a small town with my static! That’s when I’d rather wear something like this, a soft, pretty ear-warming scarf. I adore the Valentine’s Red color and the perky bow.

4. In the News Hat

Price: $26.99 at modcloth.com
I look really good in a newsboy hat, but most of them are plain black or brown. Not this one! It’s a brilliant blue, to match my eyes, and it’s knit of chunky funky yarn. Now, do I wear m bangs down or pulled back with this hat?

5. Miss Lady Hat

Price: $24.99 at modcloth.com
One look at this hat and I wonder — is it more style than substance? For surely a hat this pretty and ladylike can’t also be warm, can it? Oh, but it is. I plan to wear this with my vintage-inspired lace-up boots and I know I’ll be getting all sorts of sideways glances and perhaps a new suitor or two.

6. All Season Long Hat in Transition

Price: $22.99 at modcloth.com
This gorgeous autumn red-orange hat is inspired by the chicest berets, shaped to cap your tresses and keep your ears warm. The cable knit design is pretty, and the little bow at the side adds definition.

7. Blueberry Pilot Hat

Price: $37.99 at modcloth.com
I want this hat for the coldest of Michigan winter days, due any day now. The tawny faux fur lining is gorgeous, and will look great with any complexion, and the deep blue-green shell is sure to flatter any eye color. See? It’s perfect for anyone who has to battle the chill!

Those are just a few of the adorable hats I’ve found at ModCloth, and there are so many more in every style and color you can imagine! There’s bound to be one (or three!) that you’ll love! Which of these do you like best, and which of your coats or sweaters would you wear it with? Please let me know!

Fashion, fashion! It’s everywhere! And “current fashions” are changing every day! One of my favorite things about fashion week happens to be all the lovely designs based on the high- end designers. Looking back on Fall/Winter fashions in Paris, here are my top favorite designers!

1. Mario Lefrance and Beatrice Ferrant

I love the color palette that they chose for this line. The beautiful flowing of dresses in many of their creations was also something that caught my eye! Can’t wait to see their spring line! What will they have in store for us?

2. Hannah MacGibbon

She sure has a way with taking a boyish look and making it ultra feminine! The trench coat belongs in the race this season and I love these designs. Thank goodness it is finally cool enough where I live to pull out the overcoats!

3. Frank Sorbier

Though this particular creation is a little over-the-top for my taste, I do like the basic design of many of his outfits. Pictured is one of my favorites. Also, among my favorite was a fitted black dress with fringed jacket top! I really like the way designers have incorporated a feminine touch to all the designs this season, whether with bows, lace, ruffles, soft material.

4. Jean Paul Gaultier

Though his hairstyles are outlandish, and many of his clothing designs weird or skimpy, I was most impressed with this creation bringing a bit of the vintage look into play. The furs and this green works so well together! Reminds me of something Lucille Ball would have worn! Bright colors, feminine styles, and a retro, vintage appeal fits in with all the trends this year. I love them all!

5. Ellie Saab

Ellie’s work is probably one of my top favorites. She has a beautiful, sexy, very feminine was about her designs that draw me! I love sparkles and long flowing dress that make you look as if you’re floating on air! This red dress is particularly beautiful! So let your girl power show through with a few pieces from Ellie.

6. Louis Vuitton

Let’s celebrate womanly curves! That’s what this designer is doing! Many of Vuitton’s designs were instant winners with me. The entire line conformed to the voluptuous womanly figure in a modest, decent way!

7. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli’s for Valentino

Are you looking for another gorgeous example of the soft, feminine touch in clothing? Valentino’s line is spot on! Ruffles, lace, feminine material, it is all here in this fabulous line! The designs from this collection are pure girl, pure elegance, and pure fun.

There aren’t too many ladies out there who don’t love fashion. Maybe your are not obsessed with clothing, but what you wear is important and it’s a decision everyone must make every day. Do you have a favorite designer? What were your favorites this year?

Pre-teens are in an awkward place, too old to be little, too little to be old. This makes their lives a little confusing, and it also makes buying them gifts a little difficult. You need to find something that won’t insult them by being too babyish, but not so old that they won’t like it. That’s a hard balance to strike! But I can help. Having raised a pre-teen, I’ve put together this helpful list of 7 great gifts for pre-teens!

1. Astronaut Ice Cream

Price: $6.00 at urbanoutfitters.com

Perfect for: the scientist
These ice cream sandwiches are unusual, to say the least. They’re completely edible, but can be stored at any temperature, and for years. They’re freeze-dried and packed, and won’t rehydrate until you eat them. What kid, especially one who likes science, wouldn’t love these?

2. Balloon Dog Ornament

Price: $10.00 at urbanoutfitters.com

Perfect for: the prankster

Pre-teens may be outgrowing their fear and hatred of clowns, but they’ve still got a lot of love for balloon animals. These ones are made of glass, though, and measure a miniature 4 inches long. They come in four colors and “breeds,” so you’re sure to find one your pre-teen will like.

3. Stylophone Portable Synthesizer

Price: $24.00 at urbanoutfitters.com

Perfect for: the musician
Trust me, there isn’t a tween on Earth who wouldn’t love this pocket-sized synthesizer, a remake of the 1960’s classic used by everyone from David Bowie to They Might be Giants. It’s more modern, though, so it’ll connect to a computer and serve as a speaker for an iPod or other MP3 player. Your little/not-so-little recipient will love playing with this, making all sorts of sounds. Cool!

4. Pinwhale Initial

Price: $14.00 at anthropologie.com
Perfect for: the little artist or decorator
These 7” by 7” cotton corduroy lower-case letters can be used to spell a name, a nickname, or just serve as an initial to make someone’s space truly their own. They’re all gorgeous, artsy, bright, and would make a wonderful one-of-a-kind gift for the young artist or interior designer in your life.

5. Eco-Art Drawing Set

Price: $24.00 at anthropologie.com
Perfect for: the artist or budding eco-warrior
This gift is perfect for so many types of tweens, from the budding artist to the already-devoted eco-warrior. The set includes a pad of paper made from the dropped leaves and bark of the banana tree, and a set of colored pencils made of recycled newspapers, vegetable-based glue, and all-natural pigments.

6. Sewing Basket Kid’s Apron

Price: $24.00 at anthropologie.com
Perfect for: the culinary artist
Most tweens are still intimidated by the kitchen, but not your niece. She’s moved way beyond Easy Bake and can make all sorts of cookies, pies, and more. Encourage her talent with this pretty apron, one that’s made to fit her, and one that doesn’t say anything dumb (like “kiss the cook”)…

7. Unicorn and Stars Ornament Set

Price: $20.00 at urbanoutfitters.com
Perfect for: the devoted princess or unicorn fan
When I was a tween, I loathed parting with a few of my little-kid obsessions — my scratch and sniff sticker album, and my unicorn collection. If you know a girl like this, who still loves her unicorns, this spiffy ornament set would be a great gift for her! It features one unicorn and a sky-full of bright stars. Perfect!
